Paul Beckman is a Peter O'Donnell Jr. Postdoctoral Fellow working with Professors Gunnar Martinsson and Joe Kileel. He completed his PhD in mathematics at the Courant Institute at New York University advised by Mike O'Neil.
Paul's research focuses on using tools from classical and modern numerical analysis (e.g. quadrature, fast transforms, rank-structured matrices) to develop efficient algorithms for problems in statistics and data science (e.g. Gaussian processes, spectral estimation, mixture models).
