Postdoctoral Fellow Computational Astronautical Sciences and Technologies

Biography

Han Cai was born in 1990 in China. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering in 2012 from the Ocean University of China. In 2015, he received his Master of Engineering degree in aerospace engineering from Beijing Institute of Technology. Afterward, he continued his Ph.D. study at RMIT University, Melbourne, Australia. His thesis projects were focused on developing new methods for advanced catalog maintenance of GEO object. After receiving his Ph.D. in August 2019., Han joined the CAST group at Oden Institue as a postdoc.

Major research interests include multi-target tracking, sensor tasking, data fusion, orbit determination, tracklet association, and uncertainty quantification. He is currently working on developing new uncertainty quantification methods based on the outer probability measure theory, and adapting the methods to space situational awareness applications, e.g., initial orbit determination, space object tracking, consensus fusion, and collision assessment.
