Jon Tamir

Biography

Jon Tamir is an Assistant Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at UT Austin, with affiliations in the Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences, and the Dell Medical School Department of Diagnostic Medicine. He received his BS in ECE from UT Austin and his PhD in EECS from UC Berkeley, where he was also a research associate. Prior to joining UT, Jon was a deep learning research scientist at Subtle Medical.

Jon Tamir's research focus spans computational medical imaging, signal processing, and machine learning. He is primarily interested in applying advanced imaging and reconstruction techniques to MRI, with the goal of enabling real clinical adoption. He is a developer of the open-source BART toolbox for computational MRI.
