Biography

Shreyas is a Ph.D. candidate in the Computational Science, Mathematics, and Engineering (CSEM) program program at The Oden Institute for Computational Engineering and Sciences at The University of Texas at Austin (UT-Austin).

He is advised by Dr. Patrick Heimbach. His research primarily involves PDE-constrained inverse problems in the context of paleoclimate reconstruction over ice sheets. He is also exploring the utility of Explainable AI (XAI) methods in an oceanic and glaciological context. He is passionate about Open Source Software Development and has contributed to efforts to make open-source adjoint models available for data assimilation efforts of the glaciology and oceanography communities by leveraging open-source Automatic Differentiation (AD) tools.

He is broadly interested in glaciology, data assimilation under uncertainty, machine learning, optimization, and mathematical modeling. In his free time, he likes hiking, playing chess, cricket, and reading.

B.Tech, Mechanical Engineering with Honors (Minor in Computer Science), Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (2019)
MS, Computational Science, Engineering, and Mathematics, University of Texas at Austin (2021)
