Nora Loose is a postdoc at UT Austin working with Patrick Heimbach. Her research interests include the large-scale ocean circulation, high latitude and polar climate, and ocean observing system design. She completed her Ph.D. in physical oceanography at the University of Bergen, Norway. Her goal is to make mathematical tools more accessible for climate research.
Her research combines ocean observations and models to understand the ocean’s circulation and impact on climate. She applies techniques from the computational sciences in order to quantify uncertainties in ocean state estimates and gain new insights into how to improve the global ocean observing system. Currently, her main research focus is on the subpolar North Atlantic, the Nordic Seas, and the Arctic Ocean. Learn more details about her research here.
