Gopal Yalla's research interests lie at the interface of applied mathematics, computer science, and engineering. His recent work focuses on the effects of numerical discretization on the Large Eddy Simulation of complex turbulent flows. This work has to lead to the development of improved turbulence models that account for properties of the underlying discretization such as resolution inhomogeneity, anisotropy, and numerical discretization error. Gopal works in the Center for Predictive Engineering and Computational Science (PECOS), where he is advised by Dr. Robert Moser and Dr. Björn Engquist.
